Taking my own advice

Tonight I told someone that if they want to get to sleep by a certain time, they needed to get off the electronic devices and turn off the tv an hour before.  Well, I've passed that deadline, but I'm going to sign off all of these bleeping (literally- this is not a filler for swearing) machines and get into slow time- the relaxation mode required prior to sleep.

Thank God for Mondays! I'm pooped!

That's right - bet you never thought you'd hear it, but there it is. I'm glad to be at work, because I'm exhausted!

We saw all the kids on Friday, I drove one to and from a party (45 min return trip), went to church Saturday morning, managed a 2 hr nap, stayed up late, got up at 7.30 Sunday morning and started cleaning. 4 hrs later we went and got some subs and coffees/teas and drove miles to a park to eat them. Ran the dog by the river, bought frozen treats, drove all the way home with a wet stinky dog, then did gardening for 2 or 3 hours. Made dinner, and FELL into bed. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Let's ALL eat cake!

Today I was asked by a friend to find some diabetic friendly cake recipes, which led me here: Diabetic Cakes at All Recipes UK  Now, of course, I want to bake cake.  As it happens, I must be up at 6am tomorrow to get Boy up for work, so I may be baking a cake!  I have the blueberries, have converted Centigrade to Farenheit, and just need 55 minutes!  I could have it in the oven while I walk Le Dog, and come home to cake-baking smells! Nom! I'll let you know how it goes...

Funeral for a friend

We went to a funeral yesterday... sadder than usual as the man was only 44 and had passed very suddenly from a heart attack.  The complete shock of it made it so hard to assimilate as our new reality.  It underscored the shortness of life - whether it's things we need to say, or apologize for saying, or things we need to get done - the phrase "no time like the present" really hangs around the mind at a time like this.
We wonder what things Trevor left undone and unsaid, and what things he was glad he had 'gotten around to'.

Battle of the Bulge and the Mind

The sun is shining, the grass has had its first mow, flowers are everywhere, and trees are budding.  It's definitely time to lose those last few pounds!
What? You don't follow the logic? My daughter's wedding is in August and I want my dress to fit (and I'm tired of looking at the bulge). There's no time like the present.

No updates

That's right: zero, zip, zilch, nada. Still have no clue where to or if I'll be moving.

But the grass is green and it's time to repair the mower to get through that jungle I've been growing in the back.

The flowers are up, and the birds are singing... anyday now I'll stop wearing my parka.
